Lil’ Guppies was started in the summer of 2006 in Los Angeles, CA, by owner and lead instructor, Amy Diamond.  Lil' Guppies has now expanded to Sarasota, FL!  Private, semi-private, small group and Parent & me lessons are all offered throughout both Los Angeles and Sarasota counties. Lessons start for children as young as 4 months old. Adult lessons are also offered for those wishing to refresh their skills in the water or even for those who never quite got their feet wet! Our students will not only develop swimming and water safety skills, they will also gain strength, self-confidence, and experience the many benefits of “water therapy!” Lil' Guppies also offers lifeguarding services for parties & special events. About Amy & Lil' Guppies Swim School

Amy established Lil’ Guppies Swim School in 2006 at the Lil' Guppies headquarters in Los Angeles, CA, to share her passion for education, children and water of all forms with others. Amy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a Master of Arts in Education and California State Teaching Credentials, and a Masters of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture from Yo San University, Los Angeles. With over 25 years of experience teaching swim lessons and water safety under her fins, Amy started Lil’ Guppies to incorporate her own experience and instructional style to her favorite sport and pastime, and share the joy and benefits it has given her with those around her.

Amy swam competitively for 16 years and has coached age-group swim teams on both the east and west coasts. Amy has been CPR, 1st Aid & Lifeguard certified since 1994. Upon relocating to Sarasota, FL in 2020, Amy launched a Lil' Guppies branch to serve families in Sarasota and surrounding areas!

Amy is also a Licensed Acupuncturist & Physician of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Holistic Health Practitioner, author of The Adventures of Splash & Shelly children's book series, and the summertime Aquatics Supervisor for URJ Camp Harlam in the Poconos, PA. She enjoys spending the majority of time being active and outdoors with her 13 and 7 year old sons and connecting with family & friends.
